Internship Completing Final Year BSc IT Class of 2026 • 3 Months

Brian Otieno

BSc Information Technology • Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)

Personal Student Reflection
"The mentorship culture here is unmatched. Engineers took time to explain the 'why' behind architectural decisions, not just the 'how'."

What I Learned in the Field

I gained practical exposure to carrier network topology, autonomous system BGP peering, bandwidth queues using PCQ, and database management for subscriber access control. It bridged the gap between academic computer science and ISP network engineering.

Hands-on Technical Experience

Automated network ping monitors using SNMP scripts, assisted in deploying a local caching server, and configured QoS traffic priority rules for school e-learning streams.

Career Goals & Next Steps

Become a Cloud & Network Reliability Engineer specializing in resilient African internet backbones.
